The handsome young man is named after his great grandfather, Col. Andrew Warren Freeborn (1922-1994), and his grandfather, Michael Drew Freeborn.
Col. Freeborn was a fighter pilot during World War II. He was shot down over Italy in February 1945 and spent the remainder of the war in Stalag VII/A, a German POW camp.

After the war ended, Andrew and his wife, Verena (1921-2004), raised two boys -- the eldest of whom is Michael Drew Freeborn. He and his wife, Nancie, in turn raised four boys, Christopher, Nathan, Joel and Paul.
Joel is the first of the Freeborn sons to marry, and the first to have a child. He and his beautiful wife Gail have named their son Andrew Michael Freeborn, and plan to call him Drew.

The grandparents patiently stayed out of the way in the hospital waiting room, until Joel burst through the door and yelled, "We got a BOY!"
Pandemonium erupted and there were hugs and smiles all around. Click here to see.
The first of Joel's brothers to hear the news was Christopher, who was on the cell phone.
As soon as Joel left to go back to Gail in the delivery room, the grandmas dug out the pool sheets to see who won the prize for predicting the baby.
Later, the grandparents got their first glimpse of young Drew, as Gail was wheeled from the delivery room to her recovery room. It was amazing!
Enroute to the recovery room, Gail learned that she won the pool.
Little Drew got his first shampoo, his first shot (only the ADULTS in the room cringed), and his own personal "Lojack" device.
He's an energetic little guy, trying to crawl when he's less than three hours old!
Finally, each of the grandparents -- Phyllis, Bruce, Nancie and Michael -- got their first opportunity to hold the baby.
While all this was going on, poor Gail was reminded that she was still just a little bit tender.
Here's a great closeup of Drew in the arms of Grandma Phyllis!
September 19, 2004: Just two weeks old and Drew is already helping Lovie Smith accomplish his number one goal for this football season: to whup some Packer butt! (Bears 21, Packers 10)
