Recent Sweepstakes Developments in New York

Recently, the New York Attorney General (NYAG) made some critical decisions regarding several sweepstakes promotions. The most notable change is that in New York, sweepstakes promotions which provide a non-purchase method of entry only available on the Internet do not provide "equal dignity," and thus violate New York's sweepstakes laws.  It remains unclear whether the NYAG will begin enforcing the existing requirement to post full rules in retail outlets offering sweepstakes promotions.
