General Office Assistant (Richmond)

Job Title: General Office Assistant
Status: Non-exempt
Location: Richmond, VA
Reports to: Office Manager

Job Summary:
Candidate must have mailroom, photocopying and scanning experience, preferably within a law firm setting. Should possess strong customer service skills, be motivated, energetic and a team player. The ability to lift 50 pound boxes and push carts containing heavy items is required. Overtime is required as needed. The Office Assistant is responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative support duties of a small law office.

• Open files
• Scan mail into File Site
• Photocopying, scanning and printing of legal documents
• Upload documents to electronic file, close matter in system, and shred paper file, retaining reusable materials
• Filing
• Interoffice movement of boxes containing documents and equipment
• Keeps the break room, mail room and storage room stocked and orderly
• Assists with Reception coverage as needed
• Assists with mass-mailings as needed
• Prepares FedEx and First Class mail labels and packaging when needed
• Assist with the creation and printing of file folder labels, binder indexes, etc. when needed
• Work under direction of paralegal or legal assistant in completion of assigned projects
• Provide support to attorneys, paralegals and office manager for the smooth operation of the office
• Enter expense reports and invoices into Chrome River
• Perform other duties as assigned

• 1-2 years’ experience in an administrative capacity, Law firm experience a plus
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to navigate various computer programs
• Ability to lift 50 pound boxes
• Strong ability to prioritize and work efficiently
• Pleasant, friendly disposition
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
