Litigation Legal Assistant (Chicago)

JOB TITLE: Legal Assistant – Litigation
LOCATION: Chicago
STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Human Resources

Job Summary:
Provide support to attorneys in litigation practice group.

Responsibilities:
• Communicate with clients, judicial administrative staff and vendors
• Schedule and make appointments for multiple attorneys and other legal staff
• Update docket information in attorney calendars and firm docket program
• Prepare legal documents and update transactional documents with ability to redline documents
• Proofread and format documents as necessary
• Assist with trial and/or due process hearing preparation
• Transmit legal correspondence to clients, witnesses and court officials by electronic filing, mail, fax or messenger
• Enter time and process expense reports
• Process conflict checks using firm software
• Organize and maintain case and correspondence files
• Prepare or update existing PowerPoint presentations
• Arrange travel plans
• Assist other attorneys during absences or vacations when we are shorthanded
• Attend training classes to keep skills current
• Perform other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with Best Authority and Legal MacPac a plus
• Knowledge of court filing systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact and communicate and demonstrate sound judgment
• Must be able to prioritize work and manage competing priorities
• Client service mindset and friendly demeanor
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to resolve problems
