Becker to Moderate Panel at the 2018 American Bar Association Annual Meeting

Freeborn Partner David Becker is moderating the panel, "Protecting Intellectual Property in the Legal Cannabis Industry" at the 2018 Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section's Intellectual Property Committee of the American Bar Association's Annual Meeting. 

About the Panel: As more states recognize legal cannabis for medicinal and recreational use, businesses in and related to the cannabis industry need guidance to protect their ideas and their brands. The ability to protect valuable IP assets is hampered by cannabis' status as a Federally controlled substance and other potential obstacles. This program provides a groundwork for lawyers and companies to understand the ins and outs of intellectual property protection where, on the one hand, state laws legalize cannabis sale and use and, on the other hand, Federal laws still categorize cannabis as a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
