Partner Erin McAdams Franzblau to Present During IICLE's Employment Law Institute's COVID-19 Webcast

Freeborn Partner Erin McAdams Franzblau will be presenting on a panel during IICLE's Employment Law Institute's interactive webcast to discuss employment law in COVID-19 times. The webcast is on Thursday, May 14, and Erin's panel is entitled "Furloughs, Layoffs, WARN and Re-opening the Business."  As the country begins to ease COVID-19 business restrictions, many workplaces are struggling with reopening and adjusting to the “new normal.” For businesses closed due to “stay at home” orders, this process will involve recalling furloughed workers and learning from the steps taken by essential businesses that never closed.  

The panel will discuss topics including what is a furlough versus a layoff and why it matters, what are the types of separations that trigger federal and state WARN Acts and what are the potential penalties, COVID-19 and the “unforeseeable business circumstance” provision of WARN, and more.
