William A. Spence, Senior Counsel at Freeborn and Chairman of the China Practice Group, will moderate a panel discussion at the U.S. China Business Forum, hosted by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce on December 15, 2009. Mr. Spence will moderate a panel discussion on, “Cutting through the Red Tape in Chinese Legal Compliance, and Building Lasting Partnerships For Your International Trade Strategy.”

 

This forum will serve to educate and inform the international business community and the Chamber members in the Chicagoland area on the latest developments of business, investment and trade opportunities of doing business with China. The presenters will also explore how these new opportunities and challenges will allow businesses to remain competitive in today’s global economic climate, and attendees will discover how to capitalize on the opportunities of China’s domestic growth and consumption and its increasing outbound investment to gain market share.

Mr. Spence has served as Co-Chairman of the Chicago Sister Cities China Committee, a position appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley, and as a Member of the Sister Cities Executive Committee. He has taught law in China and lectured to government agencies about various aspects of American law. Mr. Spence was appointed as one of two foreign advisors to the State Pharmaceutical Administration of China in 1995, and served as legal advisor to the Dalian High Tech Industrial Zone in 1998.
