Freeborn Partner Salvador A. Carranza Selected to Chicago Scholars’ 35 Under 35 Young Leaders Making an Impact

CHICAGO – May 9, 2017 – Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that Salvador A. Carranza, a Partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, has been selected as a member of the 2017 class of the Chicago Scholars’ 35 Under 35 Young Leaders Making an Impact.

“We congratulate Sal on this honor from Chicago Scholars in recognition of his contributions to youth-focused initiatives and in giving back to our community,” said Freeborn’s Co-Managing Partner Michael A. Moynihan.

The 35 Under 35 awards recognize the philanthropic and professional accomplishments of diverse, talented young professionals in Chicago who are making an impact on youth. The honorees include young professionals in the civic, corporate, nonprofit and tech/start-up sectors. According to Chicago Scholars, the award recipients are “the city’s next generation of CEOs, political geniuses, innovators, and thought leaders who believe in giving back to the community.”

Mr. Carranza is a member of the board of directors for Reading in Motion, a Chicago non-profit literacy organization dedicated to ensuring all students – especially those whose environment or circumstances put them in greater need of support – read at or above grade level by the end of first grade.

Mr. Carranza focuses his law practice on disputes involving private and public companies, shareholders, executives and directors. He has represented a variety of corporations, businesses and professional firms in matters involving commercial disputes, breaches of fiduciary duty, employment agreement disputes, shareholder and derivative disputes, mass tort product liability defense, and a variety of other commercial litigation matters. He also is an International Association of Privacy Professionals US-law certified privacy professional and advises businesses on cyber security and data privacy issues.

Mr. Carranza earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Chicago Scholars is a non-profit dedicated to transforming the leadership landscape of Chicago by resolving the fundamental barriers to success for academically driven, first generation college students from under-resourced communities in Chicago. It is the largest college access and success program in Chicago, serving more than 2,400 scholars each year in a 7-year college access and success mentoring and career support program.
