Freeborn & Peters LLP Wins Case on Behalf of Chicago Land Owner

A Cook County jury returned a verdict in favor of our client and awarded $377,000 in damages, which is what was asked for at trial. Our client, a land owner, had leased its property to a parking lot operator for 5 years. The parking lot operator operated the lot for 4 of those years before abandoning it in November, 2003. The parking lot operator stopped paying rent under the lease and claimed that they were fraudulently induced to enter into the lease. The trial took 3 days to complete, but the jury took only 90 minutes to reject the parking lot operator's defense and find in favor of our client.
