Freeborn & Peters to Sponsor Women’s Bar Foundation and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois 2016 Rise Up and Reach Back Luncheon

CHICAGO – Feb. 4, 2015– The Women’s Bar Foundation will hold its annual Rise Up and Reach Back Luncheon on Feb. 26. The event will recognize the Honorable Diane P. Wood, chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney (in memoriam). Freeborn & Peters is a sponsor of the event, along with Barron Business Consulting and Perkins Coie.

Over 200 guests are expected to attend the event, which will be held at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Chicago. All proceeds from the luncheon will be used to fund scholarships awarded by the Women’s Bar Foundation to outstanding women law students in Illinois.   

Hon. Rooney will receive her award, in memoriam, from Illinois Supreme Court Justice Hon. Mary Jane Theis. Hon. Wood will receive her award from the Hon. Jessica A. O’Brien, judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and president of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois. 

Shelly DeRousse, Partner and Co-Leader of the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group at Freeborn & Peters and president of the Women’s Bar Foundation, will act as moderator for the event.  Over 30 judges and other esteemed legal guests are expected to attend this pivotal event for the Women’s Bar Foundation of Illinois.
