Healthcare Practice Group Authors Article on CMS Network Adequacy Rules

Each year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) releases a notice to amend federal rules governing the health insurance market under the Affordable Care Act. On Dec. 2, 2015, as part of its notice, CMS proposed to expand the federal network adequacy standards that health and dental plan issuers must meet to be certified as qualified health plans (QHPs). The stated intention is not to prohibit narrow network plans or to impede innovation but instead to establish a “floor” consistent with current levels of network coverage.

Freeborn's Health Practice Group Leader, Deborah Dorman-Rodriguez, and Health Practice Group Partner, David M. Kaufman, co-authored an article about the proposed rules for Managed Healthcare Executive. The article appeared on the publication's website on Feb. 1 and is titled "CMS Proposes Network Adequacy Rules."
