As Business Development Manager, Katie oversees nationwide business development for multiple Freeborn practice groups. Katie contributes to practice group support, attorney mentoring, client development, and Firm event planning. Through her prior experience practicing as a litigation attorney and in-house at a global insurance company, Katie has developed an understanding of legal services from both attorney and client perspectives. She espouses Freeborn’s core values as she positively impacts client service on behalf of the firm.
In addition to her professional career, Katie serves as the Co-Chair of the Children’s Research Fund Junior Board, which supports pediatric medical research being conducted at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute. Katie leads a group of 75 young professionals, routinely communicates with Lurie Children’s executives, acts as a liaison with corporate sponsors, and oversees all marketing and promotional materials. Katie previously served as Chair of the Board’s largest fundraising event, Cocktails for a Cause, which hosts 700+ attendees annually. During her two years at the helm, Cocktails for a Cause saw increased attendance each year and raised over $200,000 for Lurie Children’s.
Katie earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During law school, Katie was awarded a Certificate in Trial Advocacy, was on the Dean’s List, earned CALI Awards in Advocacy and Legal Writing II, served as Articles Editor of the Consumer Law Review, and was a member of both the Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Team and Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Team.
