Copyright Office Extends Deadlines Again due to COVID-19

As an update to prior Freeborn alerts (available herehere, and here), the United States Copyright Office announced on March 9, 2021 that it is further extending certain timing adjustments due to the pandemic through May 10, 2021. These adjustments extend deadlines related to the registration of copyrights, which determines whether certain remedies, such as the ability to recover attorney’s fees and costs and statutory damages, are available in an infringement action. The adjustments also extend deadlines for notices of termination of assignments or transfers of copyrights.
