Cross Writes about Value of Effective Compliance Program and Qualifying for DOJ’s Antitrust Division Leniency Program

The key benefit for a corporation maintaining an effective and robust compliance program is early detection of any violation of antitrust laws. In addition, in the event of an antitrust violation, an effective compliance effort may allow a company to qualify for, and further benefit from, the DOJ’s Antitrust Division Leniency Program. Benefits of qualifying include avoiding a criminal conviction, as well as fines and jail time, and treble damages when there is admission and full cooperation with the government. Jeffery M. Cross, a member of the Litigation Practice Group and Antitrust & Trade Regulation Group, reviews the leniency program’s key components and benefits in his article “Compliance and the Antitrust Division’s Leniency Program.” The latest in his series "The Antitrust Litigator," the article was published in the February-March 2017 issue of Today's General Counsel magazine.
