CHICAGO – Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has elevated attorney Daniel Hargraves to Equity Partner, effective June 26, 2018.

Mr. Hargraves joined Freeborn in March of 2017 when Hargraves, McConnell & Costigan P.C. combined with Freeborn & Peters LLP. He serves as the Managing Partner of the Firm’s New York Office and Leader of the Reinsurance Industry Team.
He concentrates his practice on insurance and reinsurance litigation on behalf of both ceding and assuming reinsurance companies, brokers, underwriting agents and pools. In over 30 years of practicing, Mr. Hargraves has been involved in numerous high-profile cases and has successfully taken many to final hearing. Those disputes have involved a wide range of issues, including contract formation, fraud, bad faith and non-disclosure, contract interpretation, loss allocation, insolvency, run-off, finite reinsurance, agent’s authority, fronting, pools and commutations.
He also has the unique distinction of being admitted to practice across three continents: before the Courts of the State of New York, U.S. Court of Appeals (Second and Third Circuits), and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York; High Court of Justice of England and Wales; and Supreme Court of Queensland, High Court of Australia and Federal Courts of Australia.
