Employment Termination 2002 Chapter entitled "Lawyers as Employees: Rights and Responsibilities"

Mr. Hartmann authored a chapter in the IICLE publication entitled Employment Termination 2002, which is a handbook for practitioners in Illinois on various employment law issues.

The chapter is entitled "Lawyers as Employees: Rights and Responsibilities," and it addresses certain unique issues that confront lawyers as employees simply because they are lawyers.

The Lawyers as Employees: Rights and Responsibilities chapter discusses advancement and termination rights of the lawyer as an employee in the private practice partnership, including fiduciary duty, competition and solicitation by the lawyer-employee, attorney-client privilege, and the application of the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct. The chapter also addresses special problems that confront lawyers employed as in-house counsel.

Mr. Hartmann and a colleague are currently working on a supplement to this chapter, which will be published in late 2004.
