Four Lateral Partners Join Freeborn & Peters LLP

Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that James J. Boland and Jonathan Hill have joined the firm as Partners within the Litigation Group and Intellectual Property Litigation Group, respectively.  John D. Malarkey and Dov J. Pinchot have joined the firm as Partners within the Real Estate Group.  “We are thrilled to strengthen our firm with these talented lawyers and their thriving practices,” said Randall G. Prior to joining Freeborn & Peters, Mr. Boland was a Partner with Kirkland & Ellis LLP, focusing on commercial litigation and dispute resolution.  Mr. Boland has extensive litigation, alternative dispute resolution and counseling experience, and extensive experience in class action litigation, representing corporations and businesses in class actions involving antitrust, securities fraud, residential and commercial mortgage practices, commercial leasing and other retail sales and marketing practices, and has experience in SEC and other governmental investigations.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from The University of Chicago.

Mr. Malarkey joins the firm from Schain, Burney, Ross & Citron, LTD, and has more than 25 years of experience in representing public and private companies, partnerships and municipal entities on all phases of real estate litigation and transactions.  During this time, he has focused on mortgage and tax foreclosures, including litigation and workout strategies for developers and property owners.  For the past two years, Mr. Malarkey has worked heavily with borrowers, including real estate developers and land owners regarding loan workouts and alternative forms of litigation resolution for distressed properties.  He received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Boston College.

Mr. Pinchot joins Freeborn & Peters from DLA Piper, where he served as National Leasing Director and managed a commercial leasing practice of over 140 attorneys nationwide.  In addition to national leasing, Mr. Pinchot concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate real estate, retail leasing, and property acquisition and sales.  Mr. Pinchot received his J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Yeshiva University.

Mr. Hill joins the firm from Jenner & Block LLP, where he was particularly active in patent litigation matters.  Mr. Hill possesses broad experience in intellectual property, including litigation, licensing and counseling.  He is especially well-versed in matters relating to electrical and mechanical engineering, polymer chemistry, and medical devices.  Mr. Hill received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary, and a Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.
