Freeborn Attorneys Represent Plaintiffs in Pension Dispute, Reports Law360

A coalition of unions has filed a lawsuit against the Municipal Employees’ Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago and its board of trustees, alleging that a proposed pension reform law aimed to shore up a multibillion-dollar hole in Chicago's pension funds is unconstitutional. The plaintiffs are represented by a group of Freeborn attorneys that includes Michael D. Freeborn, John T. Shapiro, Jill C. Anderson, Terrence J. Sheahan, Garry L. Wills and John E. Stevens. As reported in Law360 on Dec. 17 in the article, "Chicago Pension Reform Bill Unconstitutional, Unions Say," the coalition asserts that the law violates the Illinois constitution because it calls for cuts to public workers' benefits.
