Freeborn is pleased to announce the expansion of its Insurance and Reinsurance Practice Group with the addition of Partner Mark R. Goodman. He will head the firm’s insurance regulatory and transactional practice. Mr. Goodman joins Freeborn & Peters from the Chicago office of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, and previously was a partner in the corporate insurance practice of Lord, Bissell & Brook (now Locke, Lord, Bissell & Liddell) in Chicago.

Mr. Goodman has more than 28 years of experience as a corporate and regulatory attorney, representing insurers, brokers and others involved in the insurance industry in a broad array of transactional and regulatory matters. He handles insurance company and insurance broker M&A transactions, and transfers of books of insurance business through asset sales and reinsurance transactions.
Mr. Goodman also advises clients on insurance regulatory matters nationwide, focusing on helping clients comply with state insurance regulations while pursuing their business plans. His practice includes internal compliance reviews, assisting clients on new products and new distribution channels, and corporate governance advice. Mr. Goodman’s clients include national and international insurers, reinsurers and brokers, as well as middle-market companies and start-ups. His experience also includes insurance insolvency and guaranty matters.
