Freeborn Expands Tampa Office with Addition of Litigator Stanton A. Fears

TAMPA, Florida – Freeborn & Peters LLP continues its growth in Florida with the addition of Stanton A. Fears as an associate in the firm’s Tampa office. Fears is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group, insurance/reinsurance industry team and emerging industries team.

Fears focuses his practice on civil defense litigation in the areas of insurance, securities, and employment law. He was most recently a litigator at DLA Piper, where he represented large companies in securities litigation, representations and warranties insurance defense, and product liability defense related to implantable medical devices. Fears previously served as litigation counsel at Raymond James Financial, representing the company in securities-related disputes before FINRA arbitration panels. He began his practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he defended organizations of all sizes in insurance, employment, and landlord tenant matters.

Fears is a graduate, cum laude, of Morehouse College and Stetson University College of Law, where he received the Edward D. Foreman Most Distinguished Student Award and was named to the prestigious National Order of Barristers. He also serves as an adjunct professor of alternative dispute resolution at St. Petersburg College and as an advocacy skills trainer and coach at Stetson University College of Law.
