Freeborn Partner Jason Stearns Appointed by the Florida Bar President to Serve as Chair of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure Committee

TAMPA – Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Jason Stearns has been appointed by the President of the Florida Bar to serve as Chair of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure Committee, effective July 1, 2021. The prestigious committee is by appointment only, with Jason having previously served as the Vice Chair.

Jason Stearns is a Partner in Freeborn’s Tampa office and member of the Litigation Practice Group. He practices in the area of complex commercial litigation. Jason has litigated several patent, copyright and trademark infringement claims in federal courts throughout the country. In addition, he also represents clients in various industries with regard to contract, fraud, trade secret and other business disputes.

The Florida Bar’s Florida Rules of Civil Procedure Committee is responsible for proposing amendments to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, and ultimately deciding whether to adopt or reject these amendments. The Committee is comprised of 46 members, which Jason will assume top leadership of starting July 1st. Jason is now in his second consecutive three-year term on the Civil Procedure Rules Committee, and has been involved as a member since 2016.
