Freeborn & Peters Hosted “An Evening with Daymond John"

On Thursday, March 4th, Freeborn & Peters hosted “An Evening with Daymond John,” a virtual networking event for clients and friends of the firm. The Founder/CEO of FUBU, Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, Star of ABC's Shark Tank and CEO of The Shark Group spoke to an energized virtual audience regarding what business owners can do in the midst of disruption and uncertainty to survive, thrive, and create social and economic value. A few key takeaways from Daymond's presentation can be found below. Thank you to Freeborn Co-Managing Partner William Russell for welcoming the audience, Freeborn Partner Katheleen Ehrhart for moderating, and to all who joined us for a wonderful evening.

  •   “What is the lifeblood of your company? It is your staff and the people that work in it.”
  • “There are three important pillars to success: 1) know your why; 2) be able to set goals; and 3) have a mentor. You have to always learn.”
  • Check in on people! “Mental health is a big concern right now. Human interaction is really important to let someone know you’re in their corner.”
  • “When we get out of this, people will remember who was there for them during this time and who had empathy.”
  • “You’re successful because you found something not being done in the market and found ways to slowly make change. Reacting to diversity and inclusion initiatives is the same.”
  • “The body of the people who work for you should reflect the people that you serve.”
  • “You can’t hit an oil well every single time.”
  • “Most importantly, regarding all of the things we’ve discussed, you can’t have success if you don’t have your health. Take care of yourself.”
