Freeborn & Peters LLP Announces New Elections and Updates to the Firm’s Executive Committee

CHICAGO - Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that Partners Jill C. Anderson and Philip L. Comella  have been elected to the Firm’s Executive Committee. Additionally, Steven M. Hartmann was re-elected to the Executive Committee and Joseph T. McCullough IV was nominated to continue to serve as the organization’s Chair.

Jill Anderson is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group and Co-Leader of the firm’s Closely Held Companies Team. Jill represents clients in appellate matters and all phases of litigation, with a particular focus on critical and dispositive trial motions in complex cases. Her experience includes the representation of large companies, small businesses, and individuals in a wide range of state and federal commercial matters, including antitrust, real estate, class action, product liability, breach of contract and other complex disputes. 

Philip Comella is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group and Leader of the Environment and Energy Practice Group. Phil's practice spans both regulatory counseling and environmental-based litigation. With over three decades of experience in environmental law, and a focus on the solid and hazardous waste industry, he regularly counsels owners and operators of landfills, treatment facilities, recycling operations, and waste generators on compliance and permitting matters arising under the environmental laws. 

Steve Hartmann is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group and a continued member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Alternative Fee Arrangements Committee. He also serves as the Firm's long-standing General Counsel. For over 35 years Steve has handled and served as lead trial attorney on a variety of complex business and employment litigation matters.  He has successfully tried to verdict dozens of jury and non-jury commercial cases in federal and state courts throughout the country, as well as appeals, arbitrations and mediations.

Joe McCullough is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group, Leader of the Firm's Insurance/ Reinsurance Industry Group, and was re-elected as the Chair of the Firm's Executive Committee. For more than 35 years, Joe has devoted his practice to representation of insurance and reinsurance companies in both life & health and the property and casualty matters. He has acted as counsel to insurers and reinsurers in more than 150 arbitration, court, and administrative proceedings across the United States as well as in Bermuda, England, Continental Europe and Australia, including some of the highest-profile cases in the industry.
