CHICAGO – Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has elected Steven D. Pearson as its new Co-Managing Partner. Steve will be succeeding Joseph L. Fogel, who has been elected to serve on the firm’s Executive Committee after acting as Co-Managing Partner since 2019.
As Co-Managing Partner along with William E. Russell, Mr. Pearson is responsible for development and execution of the firm’s overall growth strategy, overseeing firm operations, management of firm expenses, policies and procedures, as well as developing strategies to accomplish the firm’s goals and initiatives.

Mr. Pearson joined Freeborn in 2018. He is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group, member of the Insurance and Reinsurance Industry Team, and Co-Leader of the Insurance Brokerage Team. Steve has tried numerous cases to verdict in both state and federal courts in Illinois and across the country. His practice emphasizes the areas of non-compete litigation, professional liability, insurance coverage, bad faith, reinsurance, and complex commercial litigation.
Prior to joining Freeborn, Steve practiced at Cozen O'Connor and spent 24 years at Meckler Bulger Tilson Marick & Pearson LLP where he was a founding partner. He received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
