Freeborn & Peters LLP Promotes Jennifer M. Huelskamp, Ryan G. Rudich and Martin Syvertsen to Partner

CHICAGO – Freeborn & Peters LLP is pleased to announce that Jennifer M. Huelskamp, Ryan G. Rudich and Martin Syvertsen have been promoted to Partner, effective January 1.

Ms. Huelskamp is a Partner in the Employment and Litigation Practice Groups with a practice focused on employment litigation and counseling. Jennifer represents employers in several areas of employment law, including defending claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (Title VII), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and related laws. She also routinely practices in the commercial litigation space. In addition to her general caseload, Jennifer regularly devotes time to pro bono matters. Recently, Jennifer served as a guardian ad litem through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, which provides free Chicago Legal Aid for low income residents of Cook County. Jennifer also serves as outside counsel for a number of pro bono clients of the firm.

Jennifer received her J.D. (cum laude) from Northwestern University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Rudich is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group and the Environment and Energy Practice Group and the Insurance/Reinsurance Industry Team. Ryan has a diverse environmental practice that focuses on defending businesses in complex environmental litigation, including against high-stakes toxic tort claims, government enforcement actions and in CERCLA cost recovery and contribution cases. Ryan also routinely counsels companies on compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations, assists clients with internal investigations, and provides guidance on responding to EPA information requests. He has worked extensively for clients in the waste and recycling industry in Illinois and across the United States.

Ryan received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University.

Mr. Syvertsen is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group who prides himself on finding practical solutions for clients and fighting for the best possible outcomes. Martin joined Freeborn after serving as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County where he honed his skills in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate court level. Martin served in the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau handling numerous appeals, arguing before the Illinois Appellate Court, and trying numerous jury trials and hundreds of bench trials. He later served in the Civil Actions Bureau in the Federal Civil Rights and Torts Unit and the Complex Litigation Unit. He represented police officers, elected officials, judges, prosecutors, public defenders, doctors, and county agencies in a wide variety of complex litigation. Martin achieved successful results in federal jury trials and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Martin received his J.D. from Loyola University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross.
