Freeborn Pro Bono Client’s Inspiration Kitchens Restaurant Lauded by Food & Wine Magazine

Near the renowned Garfield Park Conservatory overlooking the Garfield Park Lagoons, the Chicago west side restaurant Inspiration Kitchens serves contemporary American cuisine with Southern flair while also helping Chicagoans struggling with homelessness and poverty. The restaurant’s culinary training program offers participants hands-on experience working in the restaurant and the necessary certifications to successfully enter the labor market. John T. Shapiro, a member of the Food and Beverage team, serves as general counsel for the restaurant’s operator, Inspiration Corporation. National culinary magazine Food & Wine featured the restaurant in a story published Sept. 11, 2017, that applauds its mission while also noting its rise as a popular Chicago brunch spot “with its wooden tables, concrete floors, colorful accent walls, and a menu of modern favorites like brioche French toast, goat cheese omelets, and stacks of fluffy pancakes.”
