Freeborn Salutes Its Good Friend, Lisa Nigro

Having dedicated the past two decades to fighting homelessness through supportive services, employment, and housing programs, Lisa Nigro, founder of Inspiration Corporation, has been selected by True North brand snacks to share her story in a 60-second commercial that will air during the 81st Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 22, 2009. True North brand snacks believes that everyone has a singular passion in life that can leave a legacy, empower others or simply make the world a more interesting place to live. They are recognizing Lisa's story as it epitomizes their purpose of "giving life extraordinary meaning." The commercial will not only celebrate Lisa's efforts but also kick-off the brand's 2009 advertising campaign, which will highlight people who have pursued their life's passion.

The Inspiration Cafe was founded in 1989 when Lisa Nigro pulled a red wagon filled with coffee and sandwiches around the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago offering a little dignity and respect to the homeless. Today, that wagon has turned into an organization operating three cafes, a restaurant training program, and housing and supportive services with nearly 75 employees and 800 volunteers.
