Nine Freeborn Attorneys Named to 2014 The Best Lawyers in America

Attorneys are selected for the annual Best Lawyers guide through an expansive survey of top lawyers who assess the legal abilities of their peers. Nearly 5 million evaluations helped determine the 2014 honorees.

The following are the Freeborn attorneys who were ranked by Best Lawyers as leaders in their practice areas for 2014:

Roger H. Bickel (Government Relations Practice) is a Partner and serves as Chairman of the Government and Regulatory Law Practice Group. Bickel concentrates his practices in the areas of government relations and regulatory law, litigation and dispute resolution, lobbying and corporate representation, and procurement advocacy. Bickel has more than two decades of experience in representing a wide array of clients in complex regulatory law matters and commercial litigation. 

Joel T. Cooper (Real Estate Law) is a Partner in the Corporate and Real Estate Practice Groups. He focuses his practice on transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, development, and partnership and joint venture formation, with a special emphasis on private equity fund formation and private equity investment.  

Jeffery M. Cross (Antitrust Law) is a Partner in the Litigation Practice Group. He has nearly 40 years of extensive trial experience representing a variety of corporations and businesses throughout the country on antitrust, securities fraud, contract, real estate, environmental regulations, libel and slander, false advertising, commercial code, and trade regulation issues. Cross also has experience in distribution and franchise law and in mergers and acquisitions. 

Andrew L. Goldstein (Copyright Law, Entertainment Law – Motion Pictures and Television) is a Partner in the Corporate Practice Group. He focuses his practice in the area of intellectual property and information technology. Goldstein has extensive experience in the areas of intellectual property law; Internet, website, cloud computing, technology, outsourcing and computer law in general; advertising, marketing, and promotion law; and entertainment law.

Mark R. Goodman (Insurance Law) is a Partner in the Corporate Practice Group. He has three decades of experience advising the insurance industry on corporate, regulatory and transactional matters. Goodman has represented a wide range of clients in complex, high-profile matters, including insurance holding companies, insurers, producers, agents and brokers, and managing general agents.

David C. Gustman (Antitrust Law, Commercial Litigation) is a Partner and the Leader of the Litigation Practice Group, Co-Leader of the Antitrust Practice Group and a member and former Chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee. For nearly 35 years, Gustman has handled and served as lead trial counsel on a variety of complex business litigation matters involving antitrust, accounting, banking, bankruptcy, construction, finance, insurance coverage and broker disputes, real estate, and securities.

Dov J. Pinchot (Real Estate Law) is a Partner and Co-Leader of the Real Estate Practice Group. As one of the country’s elite leasing attorneys, Pinchot has represented many of the country’s leading businesses in connection with major leasing, acquisition and development transactions throughout the United States and around the globe.

John E. Stevens (Government Relations Practice) is a Springfield, Ill.-based Partner in the Government and Regulatory Law Practice Group. He assists clients in areas including government relations, procurement, gaming, lobbying, insurance corporate representation and regulatory law. Stevens has more than 30 years of experience in assisting clients with legislative, regulatory, government procurement and public employee collective bargaining issues.

Eugene F. Zelek, Jr. (Advertising Law) is a Partner in the Corporate and Litigation Practice Groups and serves as Co-Leader of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice Group. He focuses his practice on marketing-related law, and his areas of emphasis include antitrust, pricing and distribution, as well as branding, licensing, intellectual property, entertainment, strategic alliances, supply relationships, complex contracts, advertising and new product development.
