Freeborn’s Antitrust Practice Group and Jeffery M. Cross Highly Ranked by Chambers USA 2022 for Antitrust in Illinois

CHICAGO – Chambers USA has recognized Freeborn & Peters LLP’s antitrust practice group and partner Jeffery M. Cross in the Illinois rankings for antitrust in its 2022 legal industry guide.

“We congratulate the antitrust group on this coveted recognition and its continued commitment to excellence in client service,” Freeborn Co-Managing Partner William E. Russell said. “We also commend Jeff on once again being recognized for his deep knowledge of the nuances of antitrust law.”

Freeborn’s antitrust group combines wisdom and depth of experience to assist clients in all antitrust and related matters. The group tries complex antitrust and trade regulation cases throughout the United States and assists clients in international proceedings before such bodies as the Canadian Competition Tribunal and the European Commission. The group has counseled clients and defended large antitrust and trade regulation cases on a variety of issues, including Sherman Act Sections 1 and 2, the Robinson-Patman Act, Hart-Scott-Rodino merger planning and notification, and international joint ventures.

“Freeborn & Peters continues to be a strong, sophisticated firm for antitrust litigation and counseling,” according to the Chambers USA guide.

Cross is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group and its antitrust and complex litigation team. He has over 40 years of trial experience representing a variety of corporations and businesses throughout the country on antitrust, securities fraud, contract, real estate, environmental regulations, libel and slander, false advertising, commercial code and trade regulation issues.

Cross was recently retained by the Federal Judicial Center, the educational arm of the federal courts, to prepare a monograph for federal judges on private antitrust actions, which was released in the spring of 2022. Cross has taught antitrust law as an adjunct professor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago for 12 years and previously co-taught an online antitrust course for Loyola University Chicago's School of Law.

“Jeff Cross has the unique ability to dive deep into a complex issue and emerge with an elegantly simplified solution,” according to Chambers USA.
