Construction Services

Our construction group has the necessary industry experience to serve the needs of any party throughout the lifecycle of a construction project, no matter how large. Our attorneys advocate for the interests of our construction clients with an understanding that, oftentimes, the smoothest transactions occur with the application of thorough due diligence, proper planning, sound contracts and thoughtful negotiations.

Freeborn’s construction group represents owners, developers, material suppliers, subcontractors, architects and other parties in construction projects on general corporate issues, including business formations, financing, acquisitions and mid-project analysis. We also have deep knowledge of the many types of construction contracts required to see a project through to completion and regularly assist in the drafting, review and negotiations of such contracts. These include agreements among the architect, general contractor, lenders, insurers, unions, subcontractors and suppliers. With the assistance of members of Freeborn’s Corporate Practice Group, we also serve as outside general counsel to privately owned businesses in the construction space that lack the need or resources for a full-time in-house legal department.

Along with Freeborn’s Chambers USA-ranked Real Estate Practice Group, we advise clients on a wide range of corporate real estate issues. Our work includes resolving issues related to zoning, property titles and the bidding process. We also assist generally in negotiating and managing public-private partnerships.

Our experience includes serving as counsel with some of the country’s largest construction projects, including the Zurich American headquarters, McCormick Place expansion, Trump Tower in Chicago and Ritz Carlton Residences in Chicago.
